Newport News Shipbuilding’s Fleet Support Program recently hosted its third annual baseball social at Harbor Park in Norfolk.

More than 70 people from the program and their families came out to support the Norfolk Tides as they took on the Memphis Redbirds. The Tides won the game.

“It was great seeing how many people signed up this year and how this event has evolved over the last few years,” said Carlos Contreras (K48).

Thomasina Wright, vice president of Fleet Support Programs, stated, “The Fleet Support team works in various locations on-site and off-site. It is always exciting to bring the team together to get to know each other and have some fun.”

Increased participation from hourly employees was one highlight of the event.

“Baseball is like shipbuilding. When a team works together, they can accomplish amazing things,” said Matt Key (X11). “It was a well-organized event on a perfect Friday afternoon. I look forward to seeing everyone at next year’s event.”
