The Apprentice School Foundation Awards Four Danny Brookman Scholarships

The Apprentice School Foundation recently awarded 2022 Danny Brookman Scholarships to Jett Winslow, Eric Craighead, Makegan Piorkowski and Adriana Bowling.

Winslow is from Belvidere, North Carolina, and started his apprenticeship on July 18 as an electrician. He is a graduate of Perquimans County High School, from which he graduated with a 3.88 GPA. Winslow was a multiple sport athlete and a state champion baseball player. He came to The Apprentice School with a desire to work with his hands and play baseball. He hopes the school will prepare him to be a leader.

Craighead, who is from Newport News, started his apprenticeship on Aug. 8 as an insulator. A graduate of the University of Virginia’s College at Wise, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a 3.02 GPA. In college, Craighead was president of the Business and Ultimate clubs as well as vice president of the Interfraternity Council. He came to The Apprentice School to gain leadership experience and learn about shipbuilding. He is glad to be a part of building the kind of ships his U.S. Navy veteran father served on.

Piorkowski is from Newport News and started his apprenticeship on July 18 as an electrician. He graduated from Currituck County High School with a 3.90 GPA. Piorkowski was a YMCA summer camp group leader and football player during high school. Growing up in a military family, he looks forward to building lasting relationships as he settles down at The Apprentice School. He is on the football team and hopes to continue his education after completing his apprenticeship.

Bowling is from Yorktown, and started her apprenticeship on Aug. 8 as a coatings specialist. She is a graduate of Thomas Nelson High School in Bardstown, Kentucky, where she graduated with a 3.88 GPA. Bowling has played basketball most of her life and volunteers with a local church group to serve others. She came to The Apprentice School to start an exciting new career while learning new things.
