Newport News Shipbuilding’s 37th Street traffic gate will close to inbound and outbound traffic effective Monday, April 26. The closure is one of several changes being made to vehicle access points at the shipyard to increase security and efficiency while controlling costs.

The Railroad West traffic gate on Warwick Boulevard will be open for inbound traffic from 4 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. It will be open for outbound traffic 24 hours a day, including weekends. Access through the Railroad West gate will be restricted to company vehicles, unrestricted blue pass holders, restricted green pass holders and select vendor partners that have approval from NNS Security.

All other vehicles will be required to use the Vehicle Inspection Station (VIS) in the North Yard for entry. The VIS will remain available for entry and exit at all times.
