Saturday marks 20 years since 9/11 – the worst act of terrorism in our nation’s history. Every year, this solemn anniversary brings into focus the critical role we all play in our nation’s defense.

Please take a moment to watch this video. Newport News Shipbuilding will pay tribute to those killed in the attack with a special whistle blow Saturday. The shipyard whistle will sound for 20 seconds at 8:46 a.m. – the same time hijackers crashed the first plane into the north tower of the World Trade Center.

I ask you to join me in observing a moment of silence and spending time this weekend reflecting on the tragedy and honoring those lost. We must never forget.
