
Additional Details for MLK Day Celebration in January

Newport News Shipbuilding Diversity and Inclusion Office will host the 9th annual Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Day Celebration on Jan. 17 with keynote Thomasina Wright, vice president of Fleet Support Programs.
The events are open to all employees by reservation only. Three sessions will be offered in Bldg. 601, the old Apprentice School Gym, to accommodate first, second and third shifts.
The event will begin with third shift employees, from 4:30 to 5 a.m. A bag breakfast is included for in-person attendees.
The second session runs from 11:30 a.m. to noon, and includes a livestream option. The final session is 8 to 8:30 p.m. A bag lunch will be provided for both sessions for in-person attendees. A charge number will be provided for travel and NNS will provide shuttle service to and from the event.
Register for the in-person events and the 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. live stream event on the Diversity and Inclusion SharePoint site. Space is limited and will be on a first come, first served basis for in-person and WebEx options.
First and second-shift shuttles will have MLK Jr. event signage only.
During first, second and third shifts, internal shuttles will transport employees to the gates, where additional buses will take employees to the event site. Transportation services for these events will begin at 3:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 7:15 p.m.

- 46th St. Gate
- 41st St. Gate
- 31st St. Gate
The transportation schedule does not include any offsite locations.
