America is celebrating 250 years of independence this weekend, and the work Newport News shipbuilders accomplish each day is a steadfast contributor to that independence.

In recognition of this year’s Independence Day, two flags are flying from the floating dry dock cranes. Check out this video of the lift.

“I’ve been here 16 years and have never seen a flag fly from these cranes,” William Halsey (X36) said. “We will do anything for America. The entire X36 team was incredibly engaged and excited to make this happen.”
