Annual Holiday Food Drive Begins

Published November 12, 2025

The Newport News Shipbuilding Holiday Food Drive is underway and runs through Nov. 21.

Food insecurity affects an estimated one in nine individuals across the region. Hunger exists in all pockets of the community, and it’s critical that shipbuilders come together to support their neighbors.

The NNS Holiday Food Drive benefits the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank, which partners with 140 agencies in Hampton Roads. There are three easy ways to contribute:

  • Bring nonperishable food items to work. Bins and boxes are available throughout the shipyard.
  • Make an online monetary donation. Donate now.
  • Purchase products through the online food donation site, YOU GIVE GOODS.

Any shipbuilder can set up donation boxes and coordinate efforts in their area. Every action – big or small – makes a difference.

  • Waterfront: Boxes are available for pickup in the two new silver storage bins located in the North Yard and by the Rock. Food donations can also be put in these new bin.
  • Outlying Buildings: Anyone can request boxes for their area/building. Boxes will be available for pick up at Bldg. 802 (NetCenter) in the entryway of Suite 173 from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Enter doors 2 or 3 (on the Wawa side) and follow the signs.
  • If box pickup or delivery is needed, email [email protected] to make arrangements.
