Bridging a Family Legacy

Stephanie Neary (X01) has been a construction supervisor for John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) for approximately three years and served as a member of the purser team for sea trials.
Neary has heavy ties to sailors in her family. Her great-grandfather was a submariner and helped build the Nautilus (SSN 571), the first nuclear-powered submarine.
Her father, though, served on the original John F. Kennedy (CV 67).
“The No. 1 department I always heard about as a kid was Navigation,” Neary said. “He had pictures of himself on the bridge, and deployed to the Middle East in the 1980s on the Kennedy.”
