On Saturday, May 16, the Apprentice School Student Association (ASSA) partnered with Newport News Shipbuilding employee resource groups Generational Integration Focus Team (GIFT), Leadership Outreach Together United in Shipbuilding (LOTUS), Shipbuilders of Huntington Ingalls Professionals (SHIPs) Network and We Insightfully Stand for Excellence (WiSE) to host a “Brushes & Brunch” event in celebration of Mother’s Day. This event served as an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the mothers within the workforce, encouraging meaningful connections among shipbuilders.

Attendees enjoyed brunch, canvas painting and networking across the business.

Initiatives such as these support employee morale, reinforce a sense of belonging and contribute to a workplace culture that values and recognizes its people as a critical driver of business success.
