ED&I Monthly Panel Discussion Series Begins

Published January 18, 2023

The O18 Engagement Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) Office hosted its first panel discussion of the year last week titled “Why We Cannot Wait Until Tomorrow – The Urgency Is Now.” The panel featured Stephanie Simmons, Oliver Aguilar, Cameron Muro and Evelyn Gregory.

The courageous conversation was a relevant way to start the year and build up for Newport News Shipbuilding’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration. Discussions revolved around a quote from a letter King penned from a Birmingham jail calling for unity in 1963: “We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”

Shipbuilders are encouraged to check out a recording of the panel discussion on MyNNS and keep the dialogue going. Register on MyNNS to join the ED&I Office for upcoming discussions. If you are interested in being a panelist or guest moderator for one of these monthly courageous conversations, contact Danyelle Saunders (O18).
