Engineers Complete ET&D BASE Program

Published June 24, 2026

In late April, Newport News Shipbuilding’s Engineering, Technology and Design (ET&D) division recognized burgeoning engineers who completed the new Building Accelerated Shipbuilder Experience (BASE) Rotation Program.

BASE is a two-year program designed to accelerate engineers with less than two years of experience. It provides a unique professional development opportunity for new shipbuilders to have a powerful foundation in their career, a broad exposure to NNS through ET&D departments and increased awareness of career opportunities within the division.

Each participant rotates to three departments, spending eight months with each. At the conclusion of the program, participants choose their final department.
