Former Newport News Shipbuilding President Matt Mulherin recently was inducted into the Academy of Engineering Excellence in Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering. The academy recognizes Virginia Tech engineering alumni who have made sustained contributions in engineering and leadership throughout their accomplished careers. Mulherin, who began his career at NNS in 1981, served as the company’s president from 2011 until retiring in 2017.
