Foundry Completes First Casting for Final Block V Virginia-Class Submarine

Shipbuilders in Newport News Shipbuilding’s Foundry recently completed the first casting for the yet-to-be-named SSN 811 – the final boat of Virginia-Class Submarine Program’s Block V.
VCS Program Director Bob Schatzel recognized the Foundry team for the milestone 275-pound pour of the CuNi main ballast tank retainer. SSN 811 will be the 38th Virginia-class submarine.
