Newport News Shipbuilding’s Foundry recently poured a steel casting for the portside upper rudder frame for aircraft carrier Doris Miller (CVN 81). It was the first of 42 large steel castings for CVN 81, and the first of 10 large steel castings for the ship’s rudders.
