Labor Day – an annual celebration of the achievements of American workers – is Monday, Sept. 4. The nuclear-powered U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and submarines built, maintained and overhauled by Newport News shipbuilders help ensure American freedoms. On Aug. 4, Naval Reactors celebrated its 75th anniversary, and the dedication of NNS shipbuilders has contributed to a record of more than 171 million miles safely steamed on nuclear power.
