Newport News Shipbuilding Talent Acquisition and The Apprentice School participated in the Good Life Solution Selection Day Ceremony with high school seniors on May 24 at Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton. Twenty students accepted full-time entry-level trade position offers at NNS, and seven students accepted offers to attend The Apprentice School.

The Good Life Solution Program is a collection of partnerships between the New Horizons Career and Technical Education Center and local employers looking to improve the way they recruit, hire, train and retain entry-level new hires out of high school.

“Selection Day is a day filled with excitement and promise from students, employers, GLS and community partners. It’s when preparation meets opportunity.” said Xavier Beale, vice president of Trades. “These students have prepared and are eager to begin meaningful careers that will help our nation meet critical workforce demands – which are instrumental in ensuring that the United States maintains our global competiveness and commitment to democracy.”

NNS and The Apprentice School have participated in this annual event since 2018.
