A legend was reborn nearly 10 years ago when Huntington Ingalls Industries spun from Northrop Grumman on March 31, 2011, combining Ingalls Shipbuilding and Newport News Shipbuilding to become America’s largest shipbuilding company. On the day of the spin, HII had a workforce of nearly 38,000 employees, including more than 5,500 veterans.

This year, HII is celebrating its 10-year anniversary, but more importantly, it is celebrating its employees. Our 42,000 employees have overcome challenges, solved problems and accomplished so much in the last decade to make HII a success. Ten years later, HII is truly a legend continued.

Leading up to the anniversary, we’ll feature different timeline highlights on HII’s Facebook page and offer followers a chance to win prizes. We’ll also share videos submitted by employees throughout the company to feature their favorite memories of HII’s last 10 years.
