To encourage more high school students to consider trades jobs at Newport News Shipbuilding, the company is offering $1,000 in sign-on bonuses and up to $1,000 in relocation for high school seniors or recent high school graduates. Trades jobs include trainee and entry-level electricians, fitters, insulators, outside machinists, pipefitters, riggers, sheet metal workers and welders. Starting pay is more than $21 per hour.
