Your safety and the safety of every individual who enters our shipyard is our priority. That’s why Newport News Shipbuilding has launched “Observe NNS,” a new state-of-the art safety application that will enhance our ability to identify and quickly act on on safety issues that arise across our business – making our shipyard a safer workplace for us all.

Through Observe NNS, employees have the ability to complete safety checklists and report safety hazards at their fingertips. The long-term goal is to make this application a one-stop-shop for all things safety at NNS. This means current safety databases will be streamlined into this app.

I want to thank our safety task teams that are currently piloting Observe NNS. Because of their patience and honest feedback, we are ready to deploy the app to more shipbuilders. The plan is to deploy division by division starting with the New Construction Aircraft Carrier Program over the next few weeks. Throughout the rollout, the Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) team will collect feedback and make updates to provide shipbuilders the best user experience. We expect Observe NNS to be available to all employees by the end of this year.

You will learn more about the app before it’s rolled out to your division. We will also feature highlights throughout the deployment on our NNS communication channels. Additional information and a list of frequently asked questions is available on the Observe NNS website on MyNNS.
