Newport News Shipbuilding is currently conducting normal operations, however, due to the high heat index, some areas of the company will offer liberal leave on Tuesday, July 13.

Liberal leave will be instituted in areas where employees cannot be located to cooler locations or adequate conditions cannot be created to reduce the effect of heat at the worksite. If you are eligible for liberal leave your supervisor will notify you.

Liberal leave on Tuesday, July 13, will be for afternoon shifts that have a normal start time prior to 6 p.m. They will begin their shift at 6 p.m. Night shifts that have a normal start of 6 p.m. or later will start their shift at their regular time.

All other locations will not implement liberal leave, but will implement hot weather precautions.
