Published October 22, 2025
On Aug. 26, L.E.A.R.N. hosted a presentation in the Chief’s Mess onboard John F. Kennedy (CVN 79). This was the first time the program has taken place on an aircraft carrier. As part of the event, Newport News Shipbuilding President Kari Wilkinson spoke with shipbuilders who attended the presentation.
Discussion topics included: aligning behaviors with values, leaning on one another to learn, encouraging people to listen, focusing on Trades critical skills, ensuring shipbuilders understand procedures, and the importance of shipbuilders in creating the company’s culture.
Jazmine Keemer (X42), a pipefitter who attended the event, said, “The L.E.A.R.N. event was truly great and impactful.”
Attendees asked questions during the second half of the event. A brief reception followed, allowing shipbuilders to connect over their most memorable moments and share their thoughts about the event.
