Look Out for Fraudulent Unemployment Claims

Published April 26, 2022

Following a nationwide trend, the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) is experiencing a surge in fraudulent claims for unemployment benefits. As a large employer, Newport News Shipbuilding is similarly seeing an increased number of fraudulent claims for unemployment benefits being filed in current NNS employees’ names without their knowledge or consent. If you receive information (ie tax forms, paperwork, benefits) from the VEC and you have not filed for benefits, immediately call 1-866-832-2363 or visit employer.vec.virginia.gov/eForms/ff04 to report fraud. Thank you for your help in fighting fraud.
