Newport News Shipbuilding authenticated the keel for Virginia-class submarine Massachusetts (SSN 798) on Dec. 11, 2020. During the ceremony, Master Shipbuilder Ronnie Payne welded Ship’s Sponsor Sheryl Sandberg’s initials onto a steel plate that will be affixed to the submarine. Sandberg is chief operating officer of Facebook.
