National Security Officer Appreciation Week is Sept. 15 to 21

Newport News Shipbuilding encourages employees to mark National Security Officer Appreciation Week from Sept. 15 to 21 by recognizing the dedicated personnel who keep the shipyard safe every day.

NNS security officers stand watch, take reports, respond to incidents, perform searches and patrol around-the-clock. Next week is an appropriate time to pause and show appreciation for the in-house and contracted security personnel who are always on guard.

What can shipbuilders do to help celebrate? Upon seeing a security officer on the job, stop and thank them for their work. Learn more about the role of a security officer and the many places a security officer may be working to keep employees safe at work.
