Night School in Need of Instructors

The Night School is looking for instructors for Apprentice application credit, basic skills, computer, health, shipyard and trades classes. Classes are nine weeks long and held either once or twice a week from 4:15 until 6:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Apprentice application credit classes include math – Algebra I, Algebra II and geometry – and mechanical drawing.

Basic skills classes consist of pre-algebra and math review. Computer classes include Word, Excel, Access, Project, Visio, computer fundamentals, AutoCAD and Java. Health-related classes include first aid/CPR/AED.

Shipyard classes include basic ships theory, design and systems; health and safety-home study; naval nuclear propulsion plant fundamentals; and shipyard operations. Trades classes consist of the pipe welding program; air conditioning and refrigeration; electrical theory; fundamentals of corrosion control through coatings; and fundamentals of pipefitting.

There is an immediate need for air conditioning and refrigeration, Excel (intro and Intermediate) and basic ships theory, design and systems instructors.
