
NNS-Built Ships Participate in Event with Japanese Allies

Nimitz-class aircraft carriers USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), both built and overhauled at Newport News Shipbuilding, recently participated in a Multi-Large Deck Event in the Philippine Sea.
The event, comprising the Carl Vinson and Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike groups, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force was designed to advance combined readiness between Japan and U.S. maritime forces while demonstrating commitment to American partners and allies in the region supporting a free and open Indo-Pacific.
