Three Newport News shipbuilders were honored at the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) Maritime Conference, held recently in Norfolk.

Mike Reilley, A.J. Bierbauer and David Hansch were named as fellows, which recognizes outstanding contributions to naval architecture, marine or ocean engineering, or allied disciplines through significant accomplishments in areas such as design, research, production, operation, education or management.

The three were nominated by their peers, who submitted letters of recommendation praising their various accomplishments at NNS, including their critical roles across several programs, and their ability to mentor, innovate and communicate.

In all, SNAME inducted 16 members to the rank of fellow at the conference. NNS President Jennifer Boykin gave the keynote speech at the event.
