NNS Gives Celebrates National Volunteer Month
Published April 19, 2023
April is National Volunteer Month, and Newport News Shipbuilding employees are encouraged to support the communities in which they live and work. Whether you’re volunteering for a Newport News Shipbuilding program or event, a local nonprofit, school or church, you are making a difference in our community.
NNS Gives oversees the company’s volunteer initiatives and programs and is developing new ways for shipbuilders to become more active in the community. By incorporating one platform – YourCause – employees can locate current volunteer efforts, record volunteer hours, create fundraisers and manage their charitable giving all in one spot. Visit YourCause and sign up with your MyID number, which can be found on your pay stubs or in your personal Outlook address.
Volunteer Appreciation Event: Join the NNS Gives Team from 4-7 p.m. at Coastal Fermentory on Wednesday, April 26, for an opportunity to meet fellow volunteers and learn more about volunteer programs. NNS volunteers will get a hot dog and chip snack, NNS Gives car magnet and a bag of swag. In addition, the event will benefit the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank. Coastal will donate 10% of its profits and 100% of the tips from the evening to help fight hunger in our community. Join us to socialize with the many volunteer shipbuilders. The event is open to the public, but there are limited quantities of food and giveaways.
