Newport News Shipbuilding hosted the fifth cohort of Team Submarine Program Management University earlier this month.

The two-week program was developed to enrich understanding of submarine design and construction, improve business acumen and tactical and strategic leadership skills, and prepare participants to fill emerging submarine program leadership positions. The fifth cohort included 31 individuals – 10 each from NNS, General Dynamics Electric Boat and the Navy as well as a representative from Supervisor of Shipbuilding Newport News.

Participants spent the first week at Electric Boat and the second week at NNS.

“Team Submarine University is a unique opportunity to bring together Newport News and Electric Boat shipbuilders alongside Navy personnel to learn,” said Steve Roberts (K70). “They build relationships across the submarine enterprise during these two weeks of training that are invaluable.”

A sixth cohort is set for October.
