NNS IT Division Hosts Second Annual Golf Tournament for STCP

Newport News Shipbuilding’s Information Technology Division hosted its Second Annual Golf Tournament to benefit Serve the City – Peninsula (STCP) on June 18 and 19 at Ford’s Colony in Williamsburg.

Forty-two teams participated across the two days, and the event raised over $30,000 for STCP.

Frank Hughes (E35) said his experience was very positive, and that the event stressed the importance of spreading love.

“I enjoy being involved with events that go toward the big picture of ‘love your neighbor’,” he added.

NNS began its relationship with STCP back in 2021 as an IT-led initiative, but involvement has spread across the company and is yet another positive way that shipbuilders give back to the community. Many shipbuilders are repeat supporters, coming out every month to help with their favorite project.

Cindy Hahne, executive director of STCP, said “Serve the City – Peninsula is overwhelmed with gratitude for the IT Department of NNS. They are dedicated to making a difference in the community around them. They put in countless hours of their own time and hard work to pull together a phenomenal golf tournament to support the community through STCP.”
