Newport News Shipbuilding is launching a new and improved Employee Referral Program focused on recruiting experienced candidates.

“There is an urgent need to recruit experienced candidates with proven skills who can begin contributing to our mission immediately once hired,” Xavier Beale, vice president of Human Resources, said. “We must meet our commitments and ensure American sailors always have the advantage over our adversaries.”

The Talent Acquisition team has simplified the program to make it more convenient for all shipbuilders to participate.

How it works:

• Step 1: (NNS shipbuilder action):
  • Send an email to [email protected] with:
    • Their name and department number.
    • Full name of candidate being referred.
    • Job title and requisition number of the eligible position to which the candidate is applying.
• Step 2: (candidate action):
  • Once a shipbuilder has completed the first step, the referred candidate must apply to one of the eligible positions listed on the Employee Referral Program website while the position is open and accepting applications online.

“It’s no secret that some of our best hires are recommended by current shipbuilders who already know our culture and our values,” said Cindi Wolfe, acting director of Talent Acquisition.
