Newport News Shipbuilding proudly sponsored Serve the City’s 10th Big Volunteer Week, continuing a commitment to supporting the community. NNS volunteers participated in a variety of projects across the Hampton Roads area, lending their time and energy to help organizations and neighbors in need.

During the event, Newport News Mayor Phillip Jones surprised volunteers and staff by presenting Serve the City Peninsula with an official proclamation, declaring July 18 as Serve the City Peninsula Day in Newport News.

NNS Vice President and Chief Information Officer Jason Sutton represented HII and NNS at the event and shared his appreciation for the volunteer team. “I’m very proud of the dedicated team of volunteers who support Serve the City,” he said.
