NNS Summer Internships in Full Swing

Published June 5, 2024

Nearly 230 college students are participating in summer internships at Newport News Shipbuilding this year. The students represent 75 colleges and universities and have come from as far away as California and Puerto Rico.

“This program is a great opportunity for our interns and for Newport News Shipbuilding,” said Scott Caldwell, director of Talent Acquisition. “It provides us with a pipeline of talent with diverse education, training and experience to support the future of shipbuilding. In turn, we provide a broad experience and showcase work that can be done only at NNS to support the Navy’s mission.”

Students started their 10-week internships in different cohorts beginning in mid-May. Fourteen NNS divisions have interns, with Engineering and Design hosting 127, the largest number of any division.
