Published February 15, 2023
Newport News Shipbuilding kicked off a series of Field Day events Monday, Feb. 13, to reset NNS’ cleanliness standards and clean up all workspaces inside and outside of the shipyard gates, including offices. Field Day is a Navy term used to describe a day for cleaning up all parts of the ship, or a day of general cleaning.
“Shipyard cleanliness is important to our health and safety, and providing a clean work environment inspires greater productivity and pride in where we work,” Karey Malyszko, vice president of Plant Operations, wrote in a message to employees.
General areas of focus are reestablishing cleaning standards, maintaining clear fire lanes, fire prevention and line management practices.
