Prepare for Upcoming MyHR Downtime and Off-Cycle Check Freeze
Published August 21, 2024
Newport News Shipbuilding is preparing for system upgrades that will temporarily impact the functionality of MyHR and the issuance of off-cycle checks. Please take necessary action to lessen the impact of the planned service interruptions listed below. Look for more information about new functionality and changes coming to all employees and hourly supervisors in forthcoming communications.
- 1-23
- MyHR will be disabled. During this time, employees will not be able to modify their talent profiles or make updates to their contact information – including address, emergency contact, phone number and email address. Employees are encouraged to login to MyHR before Sept. 1 to make any necessary changes.
- No transfers of employees from one supervisor to another will be made in the system. Any necessary changes from this time period will be made retroactively after Sept. 23.
- There will be no transfers and no changes to, creations of or closure of positions.
- Supervisors should work with their Human Resources business partner or Labor Relations representative to update records for employees who leave the company during this period.
- 1-8
- Shipbuilders should submit planned leaves of absence with effective dates from Sept. 1-8 by Aug. 30. Please note this does not impact the medical leave process.
- There will be no hiring of employees.
- 23-Oct. 3
- No off-cycle checks will be issued. The last off-cycle checks will be issued Sept. 20. Payroll will resume issuing off-cycle checks Oct. 4. Leading up to this period, employees should pay attention to the “message of the day” in MyTime. Employees should enter their time as early as possible for the Sept. 27 paycheck, and supervisors should approve time as early as possible.
For more information, reach out to your Human Resources business partner or Labor Relations representative.
