Publication Clearance Request Process Explained

All Newport News Shipbuilding employees are responsible for safeguarding sensitive information. To ensure sensitive or classified information is not shared with the public, all material shared in a public forum must undergo the Publication Clearance Request (PCR) process.
Material types include: abstracts and articles, brochures, printed and digital handouts, posters, PowerPoint presentations and white papers.
The website on MyNNS provides visibility for users to track their submission in the system and respond to reviewers’ comments and questions.
The PCR process takes two to three weeks to complete and includes security, legal, compliance and patent reviews as well as reviews from a technical expert, department head, Newport News Shipbuilding vice president and NNS’ Communications division.
Approval is required each time materials are used in the public domain and any material containing photos or videos must include a Sources Page that cites the source of each photo or video.
Visit the PCR homepage on MyNNS to learn more about the process, read the PCR User Guide and submit material for review.
