Recent Vehicle Break-Ins
Published April 10, 2024
Shipbuilders,
Newport News Shipbuilding Security (O15) and the Newport News Police Department (NNPD) are investigating several recent vehicle break-ins at Hidens and in parking lots near Bldg. 907 and the HII Family Health Center. NNPD also is investigating other vehicle break-ins in the vicinity of the shipyard.
In response to these incidents, which occurred overnight Sunday and Monday, NNS Security is working closely with NNPD and increasing patrols and resources in parking lots. Our personnel are also closely monitoring cameras in the area, and we continue to evaluate additional actions to protect our people.
Shipbuilders should ensure all valuables – such as wallets and book bags – are placed out of sight or removed from their vehicle. As a reminder, weapons are not allowed on company property.
If your vehicle was broken into, and you have not reported it, please call NNS’ Security Command Center at 757-380-4031 and the NNPD non-emergency line at 757-247-2500. Anyone with information about these incidents should contact NNS Security or police at the non-emergency number. Information can be submitted anonymously to police through the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or P3Tips.com.
Respectfully,
Karey Malyszko
Vice President of Plant Operations
