Members of the two women’s basketball teams who have been inducted into Newport News Shipbuilding’s Apprentice School Hall of Fame were recognized during halftime at a Lady Builders game last month.

The two women’s basketball teams – from the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 seasons – are among five teams that have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The 2000-2001 team captured the program’s first United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national championship by defeating Huntington College. The 2001-2002 team started the season 4-4 before taking down 15 opponents in a row to get into postseason play. The team went on to win the program’s second national championship over Mount Aloysius College.

Members of the teams accepted their individual Hall of Fame awards at the game.
