Reminder: Payroll Changes Coming in January

Published December 18, 2024

Earlier this year, it was announced that HII was embarking on a project to consolidate the payroll systems for all of its divisions, including Newport News Shipbuilding. The project is nearing completion, and shipbuilders will notice some changes, beginning in January.

Read below to find out the impact of these upcoming changes. All employees:

  • A new pay statement format, beginning Jan. 3.
    • It will include all information that appears on the current pay statement, as well as new informational fields.
  • A new enterprise personnel number that will appear on the new pay statement. This number will be strictly used for data tracking purposes across HII.
    • Employees will also retain their existing NNS PERNR.

Salaried employees:

  • Will no longer receive mailed pay statements, beginning with the Jan. 3 paycheck. However, they will be able to access digital pay statements via the Okta portal.
    • See the quick reference guide for instructions to retrieve digital pay statements. The pay statement icon in Okta will be visible Jan. 1.
  • As a reminder, employees must register for Okta to access MyHR and digital pay statements. Registration instructions are available on MyNNS.

Hourly employees:

  • Payroll will continue to mail pay statements to hourly employees for the foreseeable future. However, hourly employees who have computer access and have registered for Okta will be able to access digital pay statements, beginning with the Jan. 3 paycheck.

All employees:

  • All employees will receive a mailed 2024 W-2.
  • There is no change to the time entry process, pay periods or pay dates.
  • Employees will continue to receive payment via check or direct deposit, per today’s preferences.

For more information, view a list of frequently asked questions on MyNNS. Unless you are a salaried employee who has not completed Okta registration, there is no action for employees at this time.
