RPA ‘Bots’ Can Help With Repetitive Office Tasks
Published July 31, 2024
Do you execute repetitive office tasks and processes day after day? Do these manual data processes keep you from other priority work?
The Newport News Shipbuilding Robotic Process Automation (RPA) team is looking for opportunities to free you from repetitive tasks and focus on more important job priorities.
RPA uses software programs, sometimes referred to as “bots” or digital workers, to automate repetitive, time-consuming tasks that users typically do on computers. These tasks can involve things like data entry, moving files around, filling out forms and responding to emails. The bots are able to replicate a user’s mouse actions and keystrokes, executed on a user defined schedule. RPA bots are also able to work across multiple applications and execute jobs faster by following a detailed workflow.
RPA allows managers to free up employees to focus on other priorities. It can also improve accuracy and efficiency, since the bots do not get tired or make mistakes. RPA is already supporting Cybersecurity, Finance, Payroll and Engineering departments to improve compliance efficiencies and facilitate faster delivery of existing services. Put RPA to work freeing your team from mundane, repeatable office tasks and processes.
There is also a curriculum to train citizen developers if managers are interested in this approach.
The RPA team is currently showcasing work with short WebEx events. Reach out for more information or with an idea where RPA can be leveraged.
