Security Reminder for all NNS Badge Holders

Published September 18, 2024

Shipbuilders should keep in mind the following responsibilities when it comes to their badges.

  • Display badge/pass properly at all times while on NNS premises. It must be worn on the upper front portion of the body on an outer garment.
  • Obey all access control requirements and ensure badge/pass is not used to access any area you not authorized to enter.
  • Ensure badge/pass is not used by anyone other than the person to whom it is issued.
  • Remove ID badge/pass from plain sight when not on NNS property.
  • Safeguard NNS badge/pass, and promptly report any lost, misused or damaged badge or pass to any manager in Security and Emergency Management (O15) or to the Security Control Center (SCC) at 757-380-4031.
  • Ensure NNS badge or pass is not photographed, photocopied or otherwise reproduced.
  • Absolutely no tailgating or piggybacking Tailgatingis where an unauthorized party follows closely behind an authorized person to gain entrance somewhere without proper credentials. Piggybacking is when an authorized user gains access to a restricted area and helps an unauthorized user enter the site.
  • Challenge anyone who is not wearing a badge/pass (that is not remedied on the spot) or who attempts to tailgate/piggyback into NNS property. Report security breaches to the SCC at 757-380-4031.
