Shaun Ronsonet (O46) was honored with a Level One Values in Action Award for taking immediate action when he noticed smoke rising from a forklift.
“I watched the operator getting out of the forklift and happened to notice that there was a fire underneath the seat,” Ronsonet said. “We alerted the operator; I grabbed a fire extinguisher and called the fire department.”
Karey Malyszko, vice president of Quality, Process Excellence and Plant Operations, presented the award to Ronsonet alongside his supervisor, Mark Auerbach Jr. (O26).
The Values in Action Award, previously called the On-the-Spot Ethics Award, recognizes shipbuilders whose ethical behavior and actions demonstrate the HII values: integrity, safety, respect, engagement, responsibility and performance.
To nominate an employee for this award, complete the nomination form (C-941) and submit it to the Business Conduct Office. Any shipbuilder can nominate another shipbuilder for this award at any point in the year. Self-nominations and team nominations are not eligible for this award.
