Five Newport News Shipbuilding employees were selected to join the crew of NNS-built USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) as it embarked on carrier qualifications on March 27.

As part of the Shipbuilder to Sea program, the shipbuilders spent three days out to sea as they toured different departments, ate alongside the crew and interfaced with service members. The shipbuilders gained valuable experience by immersing themselves into the life of an underway sailor.
