Newport News Shipbuilding employees Shelby Pankey (O58), Janice Boone (E68), Betty Husted (O35), Sunny Harvat (O51), Pierre Parham (O06) and April Hauser (E92) served as judges for the 12th annual Canstructure competition at Patrick Henry Mall.

Students from elementary through high school designed and built 3D works of art using canned food donations. The theme for this year’s competition was “End Hunger: Game On!,” and the goal was to collectively donate 25,000 pounds of food to the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank. This STEM challenge inspired creativity and teamwork while addressing the issue of food insecurity in our community.
