Published May 29, 2025
Newport News Shipbuilding celebrated its volunteers with a recognition event at Coastal Fermentory on April 30, sponsored by Corporate Citizenship (K18). Shipbuilders were nominated by their peers for their efforts across four volunteer program areas: NNS Gives, United Way, internal programs and external programs.
During the event, 120 shipbuilders were recognized, and 32 volunteers received honors in their respective categories.
Jay Nash (X36) received the most peer nominations in the external programs category for his service at St. John Fire Station as a volunteer firefighter and trainer, as well as his involvement with nonprofits, including PAWS of Hertford County and the Hogfarmers Charitable Foundation.
A portion of the beverage sales and tips benefited Relay For Life.
