Newport News Shipbuilding’s Deck Plate Standards approach includes the Completion of Work Review (COWR). This formalized process – performed by the Ship Operation Team – ensures required job specifications and quality are met in accordance with procedures and governing documentation. It also verifies that work records are accurate and complete.

COWR establishes clear accountability throughout the process, allowing NNS to meet schedule and cost commitments.

“Our directive is clear. We have to improve performance and hold each other and ourselves accountable while ensuring COWR is a major part of our daily operating rhythm,” said Council Pickett (X32), Trades superintendent on Carrier New Construction.
