The Apprentice School Foundation Awards Danny Brookman Scholarship
Published February 22, 2023
The Apprentice School Foundation awarded its 12th 2022 Danny Brookman Scholarship to Rhys Carlson. He is from Arlington, Virginia, and started his apprenticeship last November as a welder. Carlson is a graduate of Wakefield High School with a 3.4 GPA.
In high school, Carlson wrestled and played football and lacrosse. He also volunteered at the community food bank. His parents instilled in him a strong work ethic as he spent his summers working for a moving company. Rhys hopes that The Apprentice School will continue with what enamored him so much as a younger boy by working with his hands, learning a craft and eventually attaining his goal of becoming an engineer.
The Apprentice School Foundation provides a tax-deductible opportunity for alumni, friends and community partners of The Apprentice School to help fund scholarships, historic preservation and community service projects that carry on the school’s legacy.
