Newport News Shipbuilding will host a christening ceremony for New Jersey (SSN 796) at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13. A limited number of tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis. NNS employees interested in attending in person can email [email protected] to request tickets.

All guests (adults and children) must provide hard copy proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours of the christening ceremony. Individuals 18 years of age or older must show a photo ID that matches the name on their vaccination card or negative COVID-19 test, along with a ticket, to gain entry to the event. The event will take place rain or shine and will also be broadcast live on the Huntington Ingalls Industries and Jennifer Boykin Facebook pages as well as the christening website.

The Communications Division is also seeking employee volunteers to support the ceremony as parking attendants, site staff and ushers. Shipbuilders interested in volunteering will have to show proof of full vaccination and should email [email protected] for more information or questions.
