United Way: Shipbuilders Toss for a Cause

Published June 24, 2026

Newport News shipbuilders came together for an afternoon of fun, friendly competition and community support at the annual United Way Charity Cornhole Tournament. The event included 50 players from across the shipyard, all joining in to raise funds for United Way of the Virginia Peninsula.

Participants enjoyed lively matches, great conversation and plenty of excitement as teams competed for trophies in both competitive and novice divisions.

The tournament raised $1,400 to support United Way’s mission of helping local families and strengthening the community.

Events like this highlight the spirit of teamwork and service that define NNS while making a meaningful impact beyond the shipyard.

The United Way campaign runs through the end of June. Donate today at www.uwvp.org/NNS.
