FEBRUARY 21-APRIL 11

Are you ready to kick the habit for good? The path to a tobacco-free life is easier when you’ve got the support of QuadMed BeWell for Life. This proven eight-week program, held on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. from Feb. 21 until April 11, can help you quit smoking, even if you’ve tried before. Employees who complete the program can declare themselves “tobacco-free” and save $660 annually on their HII medical insurance through the HII Tobacco Free Incentive Program. MARCH 9

The Red Cross is coming to show its appreciation to the NNS family for the generous donations given in 2022 that funded its new emergency response vehicle (ERV). The Red Cross will be on-site at the shipyard and off-campus buildings with the ERV along with a token of their appreciation to shipbuilders.

The Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) Office is hosting its first-quarter HII collaboration panel discussion on the topic “Combating the Retention Enemy: Silent Quitting” from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, March 13. The discussion will feature panelists Gabriella Bishop, software engineer and NNS ANCHORS ERG board member; Xavier Beale, vice president of Human Resources and Trades and ED&I executive sponsor; Jennifer Perry, HR business partner manager at Mission Technologies; Amy Rowell, Ingalls Shipbuilding Operations chief of staff; and Rick Graham, HII corporate director of Security. ​The WiSE (Ingalls and Newport News Shipbuilding), WIB (Mission Technologies) and ANCHORS (Newport News Shipbuilding) employee resource groups are hosting an enterprise-wide collaborative virtual panel discussion during Women’s History Month. “You Belong in the Room: Build Confidence in Your Truth” explores some of the messages received from family, friends, media and society that may cause some to question their knowledge, skills, and abilities. Panelists include Stephanie Simmons, director of Supply Chain Procurement at NNS; Lauren Bruner, director of Strategic Planning at Mission Technologies; Sondia J. Christian, director of Business Integration at Ingalls; Randy Johnson, engineer systems architect at Mission Technologies; and Carlos Moulds, manager of EEO & Diversity at Ingalls. Dr. Dorian Newton, director of Engineering at Mission Technologies; Manny Onafeko of NNS; Marcus Jackson of NNS; and Michelle Pope of NNS will moderate the discussion. ​STRIDE is hosting a leadership workshop lunch and learn discussing the importance of pronoun respect, bullying in the workplace, biases and inclusive language. There will be time for a Q&A session following the presentation. This event will be led by Adri McAloon, STRIDE’s professional development chair.
